By local convention, I have a number of samba shares
mounted under
/export/home/me/mount/servername/sharename -- the names
of all of these are currently clipped in the xdiskusage
disk picker dialog, making it hard to know which entry
in the dialog corresponds to which actual mount.
When xdiskusage starts up, the window is of course too
narrow, but there seems to be a hard-coded maximum
column width beyond which nothing will be displayed
even if the window is stretched beyond that point.
So what I see after I start up and then stretch the
window horizontally is something like
+---------------------------------------------------+
Disk Usage Display
+---------------------------------------------------+
Pick a disk: [Refresh] [(c)]
/ 141.1G 13%
/dev/shm 1003M 1%
/lib/modules/2.6.12-10-amd6 1003M 1%
/export 72.87G 95%
/export/home/me/mount/windo 400G 40%
/export/home/me/mount/serve 135.6G 90%
/export/home/me/mount/windo 609.8G 91%
/export/home/me/mount/windo 400G 40%

Or type pathname and hit Enter:
[/_____________________________________] [browser]
(X) measure directories only ( ) measure all files
+---------------------------------------------------+
Notice how all the long disk names are truncated at the
same width (on my screen, some 190-odd pixels -- the
large font used for the text isn't exactly helping,
either) even though there would be room for more text.
The list on my actual display is in fact longer, which
makes it even harder to figure out which partition is
which.
I can come up with a number of workarounds, obviously,
but it would be nice if this could be fixed in a future
version.
This is on Ubuntu 5.10 / amd64, mostly standard Gnome
etc etc.

Oops, you prolly want to "view source" to see the proper
formatting of the ASCII art ...

Not much can be done with the fltk 1.x browsers
Okay I found an acceptable solution by rearranging the columns so the disk name is in the last column. This fix is in the newest code.
