Xivio Bubby4j

X-Core is a virtual world server based on NFC chat (java) which includes a client and website. Modified to handle 3D worlds, this is a full-featured virtual world system with a economy, shops, rooms, admin backend, and more! The website code was written in CFML (ColdFusion) but is being ported to PHP so anyone can run the website.

Created in 2006 by Gavin Conrad, Xivio was launched commercially. It ran fairly successfully until 2011, when the previous owner stole the domain name. Gavin decided it would be best to just release the entire thing open-source, for anyone to have fun with, and this is it.

This is the first 3D virtual world that was commercially launched to go open source (as far as we know).

Please stay tuned as we aren't completely up and running on Source Forge quite yet. When we're done we hope that someone will use the software to make a really cool game for kids.

You can see a demo of the rooms possible here, this is from Xivio.com
