I created my own $HOME/.xclass/etc/desktoprc file and
modified the icons assigned to various desktop
applications, then I restarted the desktop application.
The "custom" icons are all valid XPM files, 644
permissions, located in /usr/local/xclass/icons.
1. The changed icons failed to appear; the app.s.xpm
was used.
2. The changes in my $HOME/.xclass/etc/desktoprc file
were replaced by the original/default values (app.s.xpm)
3. I moved my desktoprc file (with the edited icon
assignments) into /usr/local/xclass/etc, then created a
symbolic link from it to $HOME/.xclass/etc -- when I
restarted the desktop application, the original/default
icons still appear.
4. I also tried changing the icons in Explorer, using
View->Options->File Types -- this also did not work
(i.e., the new icons do not appear) -- the same for
creating a New Type (the type is created, but no custom
icon)
I understand that this is a Work-In-Progress, and as a
long-time user of Fvwm95 I am very grateful for its
existence.
