#1566 2.8.8: want custom protocol handlers.

It's no bug. It's a feature request.

I want to be able to define custom protocol handlers, either over scripts (API change?) or defined within the GUI.
This would be useful, so people can have:
qw://
ut2k4://
q3://
ed2k://
magnet://
whatever://

Which would help players (especially on irc.quakenet.org) to quickly connect to a server, etc.
I know this would not fit in an IRC client as a standard configuration, so please allow people to configure them themselves.

I definitely agree, this would be a very useful feature. The minimal possible implementation could even only be the allowance of recognition of those other network protocol addresses as URL links — and opening them through custom defined url-handlers via right-mouse menu (through custom actions that are now definable in advanced settings).
