    Xiao Peng, Can you please assign this xCAT 2.6.6 Plinux intall error to a CDL dev owner. This RH 6.1 implementation with Plinux was done by Ang Li .
    I updated the bug to now be a sev 7 which is blocking IT team execution.
    Please have the xCAT owner involved work with Dave Shapiro to get his RH6.1
    Plinux environment working.

    This problem caused by the incorrect os name. xCAT prefers the os name of redhat 6.1 is rhels6.1 instead of rhel61 or rhel6.1. The rhels6.1 will be created automatically when running 'copycds RHEL6.1-20110510.1-Server-ppc64-DVD1.iso'.

    What I did on the c918xCAT5:

    1. copycds RHEL6.1-20110510.1-Server-ppc64-DVD1.iso
    2. chdef c917f3jp01 os=rhels6.1
    3. nodeset c917f3jp01 install
    4. rnetboot c917f3jp01

    Then the installation can be finished completely.

    But I found an issue that c917f3jp01 cannot be reboot up.The error message is:
    No OS image was detected by firmware.
    At least one disk in the bootlist was not found yet.
    Firmware is now retrying the entries in the bootlist.
    Press ctrl-C to stop retrying.

    During the installation, I saw the following message that the OS was installed on the /dev/sdr1 instead of /dev/sda.
    Creating device /dev/sda1
    Creating device /dev/sda2
    Creating swap on /dev/sda2
    In progress

    Creating device /dev/sdr1
    Creating ext4 filesystem on /dev/sdr1

    And I can login to the c917f3jp01 and found the root device is /dev/sdr1
    [root@no ~]# df -h

    /dev/sdr1 276G 1.1G 260G 1% /

    But from the SMS, it listed following boot devices and I selected 2. But boot also failed.

    I replace the line 39 in /install/autoinst/<nodename>
    part / --size 1 --grow --fstype ext4
    with
    part / --size 1 --grow --fstype ext4 --ondisk sda</nodename>

    And the node can be installed successfully.

    So if you want to workaround this issue, run 'nodeset <nodename> install' first, then modify the line 39 in /install/autoinst/<nodename> and 'renetboot <nodename>' to start the installation.</nodename></nodename></nodename>
