Many tv-applications, like xawtv, tvtime, aletv and
others work fine on the alpha plattform. Unfortunately,
your configure script prevents building on the alpha
plattform (I used the debian directory for trials).
I could not find any notice in the documentation about
i386 specific code, so if this is indeed not the case,
then you might issue a warning, but allow compilation

Btw. Vendor would be Samsung (or, more generically,
DEC/Compaq/HP) and the type would be ev56/21164a.
A good starting point for CPU detection is the
configure script of mplayer, which also builds and runs
fine on alpha.
