xarius-sysinfo / News: Recent posts

Today, I have released another preview of xarius-sysinfo. This version includes the basics of the system report generator (which in this release still remains incomplete) and a custom command tool (for executing custom shell commands from within the program.)

Keep in mind this is only a preview release. Please provide feedback in the form of suggestions, bug reports, etc. You may mail your questions directly to me at smccuan@gmail.com or post them on the SourceForge project pages appropriate section.

Today, 7/2/2006, I have released the next pre-alpha release of xarius-sysinfo.

The "Full System Report" feature has been added - but, its is VERY, VERY far from complete. At the moment, it only reports the most basic of information which is very unuseful. The next release will include an "actual" system report that generates usable diagnostics information.

A "Custom Command" feature has been added, which is simply a shell interface for executing one command at a time. I thought this would be useful for those who "fear" the commandline - it wont appear to any novice that they are executing shell commands, and it may make them feel a little more comftorable.... read more

After changing the direction of the project, I am pleased to present the version that is tailored for Linspire Five-0 V2. Although there is little in functionality improvements, many commands had to be edited in order to function on Linspire instead of SuSE.

Please note that this is still a pre-alpha release, and is prone to bugs and lack of much functionality.

xarius-sysinfo was originally being developed for SuSE Linux 10.0/10.1, but, after considering what my targeted audience is, I have chose to no longer focus on SuSE and to work soley on supporting Linspire Five-0. Linspire will also be releasing a beta of their new community driven project "Freespire" in August. Support will also be given to that distribution upon official release.

A "preview" version of xarius-sysinfo has been released. (v0.1.0.31)

KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS RELEASE LACKS MUCH OF THE FUNCTIONALITY THAT IS PLANNED. THIS IS ONLY A PREVIEW.

Please note that this release has been developed for, and tested on Suse Linux 10.0/10.1. Other distributions may function, but, expect errors to be produced.
