[Vixta-info] installation help

i have attempted to install vixta 099 pro multiple times, with multiple 
hard drives and it failes every time. i have completly erased the drive 
multiple times and that yields no difference in results. i have tried 
unmounting the drive and once again, no difference in results. no matter 
what tricks or tips i have used on this install that have all proven 
useful on previous releases do not work on this release. what tips and 
tricks are available that i may use to get this to successfully install 
on a completly blank hard drive? and i mean COMPLETLY blank, not even a 
format available, completly and utterly erased

I currently have Vista Home Basic on a computer with 2.0Ghz AMD, 1Gb RAM, 40Gb 
(OS HDD), 80Gb (Music, Video, etc.), 128Mb Video Card. I can't use Vista Aero 
since my video card is incompatible with Vista. I don't want to do 3D Flip with 
Vista but since Vixta 3D has that capability I want to know if I'd be able to 
use the 3Dness of it with my card. I yet have to burn it and test it but my 
friend isn't going to get here until 6 PM today with a blank CD. 

Does anyone know the specs of Vixta 3D?

1. many tanks for all the help 
2. the vixta team: ...some IT engineers and Professors wo are adict to linux .... and love the "AERO" feel and look 
3. since the 098 release that we consider a stable release, and ready for production. 
4. the next vixta will be based on the new kde4, soon it will be enough stable for release.

Anybody know or have any hearsay as to when a new release of Vixta will up, 
What will be fixed et cetera et cetera... 

Also I assume we are all still in the Beta-Testing stage of the Vixta project 
until theres an official 1.0.0 Release made, Right?

Hi all, 
I have a Dell computer with XP. Now, i'd love to have my computer look like 
vista, using the vixta. So I downloaded the <vixta.org-098.01Pt.iso> file that 
I found on the "download tab" on vixta.org. Now i saved it on my desktop. And 
I have no clue what to do with it! (open it? it says it can't find the program 
on which to open the file...) 
I read all the forum posts, but there's absolutly nothing I understand. 
Help... :(

Sir-- 

Vixta is one amazing project, so I greatly respect the intelligence behind the program. The only problem I have encountered thus far (besides the usual connecting to the ADS) is that my tunes do not play. This is an oddity for Amarok . . . do I need to install codecs? Sound tested fine. I am using a laptop--not old, but not new. I think this is a first for me. Suggestions? Directions to the answer would be greatly appreciated. Baffled on the journey.

Im booting my system from 098 live cd ant im clicking install icon on desktop 
but when choosing an fairly empty HD to install on it says 


Could not allocate requested partitions: 

Partitioning failed: Could not allocate partitions as primary partitions. 

Not enough space left to create partition for /boot. 


I have vista installed, and would like to install vixta on another drive. 

Could someone explain this to me in a way that I might understand ?

Ok, you have done it once again. I have tried 5 different burning options
and programs to burn this ISO to a CD and its simply too big, even with over
burning. Why do you keep releasing ISOs that will not fit on a CD?

I'm working on a new distro that will be a mix of some distros I consider to be the best for certain qualities. Vixta has caught my eye and I like playing with it. I have a lot of improvement Ideas for it that would make it run faster and better upon install. In order to achieve this I need one thing from you. Please send the Vixta theme to me in an attachment to ad...@mi... subjetc: Vixta Theme. I also want someone to tell me how to get that start menu bar if they can. 

I am going to call my distro Ultumix or Ultimix. Can't decide yet. The major goal of Ultumix is to allow any package to be installed on my distro and strip down the bloated Linux kernel. I will need to work a long time to make sure that installing debian, rpm, and source code packages on one system won't cause problems but I'm confident that it won't if I do enough work. 

I have a sourceforge.net project but I can't get access to my CVS because something is wrong with it. If anyone wants to help me with that it would be great.

I like the idea of having a large repository list but while providing a large variety of packages that can slow things down. The question is do you want all the major repos or do you just want a few?

Anyway the interface of Vixta will help a lot. Thanks. I will give credit to all that help me. (I will mention Vixta, and other distros or projects during boot up). What would Ultumix be without the parts of the mix?
