...would be a nice feature to be able to run. So often have I wanted to switch to something such as Ubuntu (or any other Linux based OS), and the only thing that's ever turned me off is the inability to run *.exe files. it would suck quite a bit to switch to a Linux based OS and not be able to use any of my software because they're all executable files that only run in Windows.

    you can run some *.exe's in linux...its called WINE, and if anything you could use vmware or qemu for emulating windows.

    Just alias wine for each exe file.
    Its beyond the scope of this project to add that.

    I totally agree !
    I would expand your req by adding mac applications also.
    Guys this is what everyone wants an os that runs our expensive and precious software!
    That is what's holding us simple users from switching to linux..!
