I finally found the right "Flavor" of linux that I liked (Vixta) and it works perfectly if I run it from a usb drive, however when i try to install it to the computer HD the install is flawless but when I go to booting up for the first time it starts and gets past the Vixta Splashscreen and the little mouse pointer appears on a blank screen and that is where it stops. I think it has to be something simple because I wouldn't be able to boot from a usb if there was a serious prob. Below are the specs for my system:

I signed in under a openid so if you are kind enough to try and help me, my icq# is 31941353 but the best choice is to email me at xtrekkiee@gmail.com.
Thanks for any help you might can give!

After a few tries finally got Nero to over burn had to in able short lead out then tried to boot from CD and after booting for a half hour only got past the slash screen to a blank screen and that was it. Im not sure if the CD-Rs I have are capable of holding 711mb(Maxell) 700mb) I went through about 4 CD-Rs to get one that was burnt with out errors.
Thanks

Just wondering the link provided says the 3D effects are not supported by your graphic card. If so why does the 3D work running from the Vixta 3D live DVD
Thanks

I tried what was said on the suggested link but I do not have a white screen while trying to install
Mine installs OK but after installing remove the Live DVD and reboot it stops booting after the loading screen and just goes blank(black screen) with the ability to move the mouse pointer
But I tried what was suggested anyway did the ctrl+alt+backspace and it went from the blank screen to the splash screen with the load progress bar and will not accept anymore input I think its frozen.
I really like the Vixta 3d 2009 release would like to get it working from the hard drive its the only one that recognizes my NAS in the samba shares And I love the cairo dock I know you can install this but this one is configured just the way I want it.
Thanks

I have the same problem descibed above by TM (black screen and not loggin in), and something else...what is the correct layout to choose if I want to remove all the files from the HD and install Vixta as the only OS? i tried two times and the only thing i got at the end was a C:\boot file ....
Finally, since im not very experienced with Linux, what are those tuning params required to make it work properly? I'm reallly interested in having this OS installed !
THANKS!!

need some help to understand:
wich release?
blank screen after login or before?
in the live usb the 3D is active?

sorry the live cd is "smashed" to fit in a CD, and because that i have to put out a lot of compatibility sw.
...i think Vixta is the only live CD distro to have firefox+openoffice+vlc+skype in just a CD!
PS: try out the Vixta 2009.06 release candidate, published yesterday.
After a few tries finally got Nero to over burn had to in able short lead out then tried to boot from CD and after booting for a half hour only got past the slash screen to a blank screen and that was it. because there is little tuning in the params, that for stability purpose is not installed in a normal installation.

try with:
ALT+SHIFT+F12, disabling the composite effect of KDE4
Thanks Sal,
Is is ALT + SHIFT + F12 or .........ALT+SHIFT+ F2 ?
Thanks!
ALT+SHIFT+F12
it is the default shorcut to desactivate the kde 4 compositing (3D) effects
