Whether this is not a good idea or not but how about a toolbar that can be displayed quickly from a button in the corner allowing you to do quick actions like switch to nav, switch to now playing, alter volume etc.

The latest AMP_1 Source has this built in. If you don't define a GPS system you can invoke it in the settings panel with the GPS icon. The toolbar resides on the right side or bottom and can call up another toolbar with shortcuts to the four main areas.

How close is this to what you want?

I take that back. The toolbar is accessible from any of the main area by tapping the upper-left hand corner.

Oh yeah, I see that now. I was thinking similar to that but like a menu bar aswell. I mean a bar that spans the top of the display, holding the clock, network monitor etc and also now playing info and gps info. It only has to be small, similar size to current clock but when clicked anywhere it will zoom into display showing more detail and the ability to click to jump that that specific part.....Music....GPS.....Network Info...etc

    What do you think?
