HowToUse.py will not work as-is. I assume it's meant to a working example of how to do things from Jython?

I started fixing the package names, but the lack of these files:

"particle":xalDir + "/xal_xmls/probe.particle.MebtEntrance..xml",
"envelope":xalDir + "/xal_xmls/probe.envelope.MebtEntrance-adapt.xml"}

means it's probably pointless... are there some other example files that could be used?

    That script needs to be removed. It was written in the Old XAL and is no longer correct and probably not even relevant.

    Unfortunately, we don't really have an official set of example scripts. If you checkout the site.sns.master branch you will see all the applications we are currently using at SNS including some scripts. However, they aren't written as example scripts.

    I was able to get HowToUse.py working with some (fairly) minor modifications. I also had to create XML files containing a sample envelope probe and a sample particle probe. I don't know enough about probes yet to say whether they contain valid data, but the script does run :-)
