I am using XAIRA to query the Lancaster Corpus of Mandarin Chinese. The Chinese characters are all displayed sideways. The text runs left-to-right, but each individual character is lying on its side. I have tried to find a way to correct this but cannot. I suspect I have accidentally changed the settings, but I can't remember. How do I make the characters upright?

I'm trying to build indexes for a corpus to work with Xaira, but the Indexer won't work when I click "Index" button. A black window (Window terminal) flashes open and shuts, and nothing happens. And I get the following error message. This happens regardless of the source of texts. It happens even when I try to build indexes for BNC xml files. Could anyone help? Thanks. Indexer terminated with code 4 (Error reading file list)

Although The Query Builder does accept the string negating operator (?!), thus confirming that Query is OK, see below my complete trial query, it returns no solutions. The function of negating a word, which could be of great help, appears to be absent in Xaira. Is it a bug, or the function has never been implemented? Thank you.
