When i import (with xACT version 1.59) the contents of a cd to my mac (os x 10.4.9 intel) using:

>util
>CD Extraction
>add
>Execute

(which is the only method i use) i always get an "output" log file, as well as the audio files i asked for. Sometimes, this output file will tell me that there was an audio file that "recorded with minor problems". I now call this newly imported problem file, "file A". I put "file A" in "folder X".

I will then reimport the original, same file from the cd which will then bring up an "output" log that says it was "recorded successfully". I now also call this file, "file A", but i put it into a newly created "folder Y".

So there is now the master file on the cd, and a total of two copies of it on my computer; one in "folder X", and the other in "folder Y".

I then compare the byte sizes of the files that have been thus far duplicated and i find that the file sizes of the of the two respective examples of "file A" match exactly, down to the byte.

This process happens very often for me.

My question is: do the two examples of "file A" differ in any substantial respect other than the fact they are stored in different folders?

Thanks for considering of this, you are doing great work!
