Hey man so lately when i have been compressing my videos with virtual dub using x264vfw I tried YUV12 as its one of the few options i can select, the others beeking keep RGB but the size is pretty much double that of YUV12. The brightness on my videos seems to be turning up, at first i thought it was my colors seeming to watch out but when i took a closer look with the screenshot of both videos i saw that all colors seemed to be a little higher in contrast. What causes this and is there a way to stop it?

x264vfw doesn't change brightness. So if you see some constant colors change than this probably effect of incorrect colorspace conversion during decoding (may be mismatch of BT.601 vs BT.709 or TV vs PC levels) or may be some post-processing in your video player or GPU drivers (if enhancements are not disabled) during playback. What do you use for decoding?
