Can't open encoded File in Quicktime or Split

Sometimes I just need to quickly edit a file by using ultra video splitter, or any program that doesn't have to re-encode. Unfortunately, the files created with x264vfw can not be opened in QuickTime or split by any other program.
Is this a setting issue? or is this an issue with the encoder?
This probably QuickTime issue with either decoding (than you can try suggestions from here) or not supporting container format (it probably needs something like mov/mp4 container and than you can't try to remux it with third-party apps).
