Well I have uploaded the new web site. It won't look completely correct in= =20 IE due to the use of PNG images (transparency) but it's not like any=20 developer would be using it anyway. ;) So did you find the time to do anything Frank? I am in favor of the oval with the 'wx' ... without it the connection just doesn't come across ... but I was also thinking that the PHP purple needed to get in there ... ...Landon Arthur Wiebe wrote: > Thank you very much. > Your ideas look good and I will use it. > > I use the GIMP which can import photoshop files. > > Thanks again. > > On 9/14/05, *Toin Bloo * <t....@va... > <mailto:t....@va...>> wrote: > > It's a nice logo. Thank you very much. Your ideas look good and I will use it. I use the GIMP which can import photoshop files. Thanks again. On 9/14/05, Toin Bloo <t....@va...> wrote: >=20 > It's a nice logo. It's a nice logo. Maybe we can improve it a little in consistency like blending the typefaces a bit together. I put the parts in photoshop and tried to copy the "official" php logo, at least for the oval purple bezel part. See the attached files. Don't know if it's better though. Welcome to Canada. I'm here too :)
Glad to here that you're back.
My development platform is a Mac running OSX 10.4 with gcc 4.0. I also have=
=20
an x86 laptop which is kind of slow. Too slow when you have the 80% faster=
=20
Apple machine to work on.
I'll try what you suggested.

What you're dealing with here is the wonderful world of C++ name
mangling ... what I can discern from that error is that it's trying to
initialize the wxApp object ... I would do some searching for the
MacReopenAppEv part of the string ...
I'll try to dig into things over the weekend, I have just finished
relocating from Italy to Canada (takes alot longer to buy a house than
expected) ... now that my home office is connected again to the net I
can start being useful :)
btw, what kind of box are you developing on? (environment, OS, etc)

Hmm, I ran into something.
When loading the wxphp.so module I get the following error:
dyld: NSLinkModule() error
dyld: Symbol not found: __ZN5wxApp12MacReopenAppEv
Referenced from: ./modules/wxphp.so
Expected in: flat namespace
Trace/BPT trap
It has something to do with a wxApp event. I did a quick google search for=
=20
the symbol but it returned a null result.
As you might have guessed I'm new to this area of C++ (modules). Any help o=
n=20
figuring out what might be wrong here would help!
/me now looking for some good online docs on this issue.

This code here can be used for implementing a wx app.
// ########### CODE BEGINS #############
wxAppConsole *wxCreateApp()
{
wxAppConsole::CheckBuildOptions(WX_BUILD_OPTIONS_SIGNATURE,
"your program");
return new MyApp;
}
wxAppInitializer
wxTheAppInitializer((wxAppInitializerFunction) wxCreateApp);
MyApp& wxGetApp() { return *(MyApp *)wxTheApp; }
int main(int argc, char **argv) { return wxEntry(argc, argv); }
// ########### CODE ENDS #############
I'm still not sure how we are going to wrap this up into a PHP function. I=
=20
assume it'll work though.
I've been think that the best way to implement a wxPHP app would be=20
something like this:
<?php
// All the stuff like
class MyApp extends wxApp {
function OnInit() {
$frame =3D new wxFrame(....);
}
}
IMPLEMENT_APP();
// or even
$app =3D new MyApp();
$app->init();
?>
I think we should just create a PHP function called IMPLEMENT_APP that does=
=20
the same thing as the C++ macro.
Now to figure out how.
And just so ya'll know, yes this project is a good way to learn C ;)

I just checked the home page and it seems to be down right now. Somebody=20 must have deleted the page. (The disadvantage of a wiki) My plan is to use my MachCMS (http://machcms.sf.net) project which had it's= =20 first release recently for the wxPHP web site. This will happen in the comming days, most likely next week as I'll be gone= =20 this weekend. I'm back to school for the last year. These days I have a bit more time to= =20 work on these projects and instead of working outside all day and coming=20 home with only enough time to maintain the projects, I can finnish school b= y=20 mid afternoon and have about 7 hours a week to work on projects. Currently what I'm working on is a sample app that does not use any macros= =20 to do the job. The latest wxWidgets CVS is currently building and tomorrow I should have= =20 something done. If you have any tests, samples, or proof of concepts to contribute, please= =20 do. Thanks and I'll keep you all posted as things progess further. That's what I thought. At first I thought we could simply use the macros bu= t=20 quickly found out that would not work. :( I guess the biggest problem here is that I really need to know C/++ better.= =20 (looking for some good detailed online docs like PHP's :) ) Are there any good documents on shared modules? I assume here that the module can have it's own main loop while php has it'= s=20 own as well. But how does that work when the extension is compiled into php= =20 statically? We will probably have to override wxApp:MainLoop() On 8/28/05, Frank M. Kromann <fr...@kr...> wrote: >=20 > Hi Arthur, >=20 > We can't use the C macros. These are pre compilation. Hi Arthur, We can't use the C macros. These are pre compilation. If we need the same functionality (and we might) we must implement our own functions. We need a system that can generate C code to implement all the calsses and a few hand written fnction to handle data types and generic functions like the main loop. - Frank > I guess it's settled then :) > That's what I think too. > > I just have a question. I guess it's settled then :) That's what I think too. I just have a question. How do we implement something like IMPLEMENT_APP()= =20 which is used for initiating the wxWidgets app? http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/docbrowse.cgi/wxwin_rttimacros.html#implementapp Or must we do it another way? IMPLEMENT_APP includes the main() loop. I'm= =20 not sure how well that fairs with PHP. It probably doesn't. Or maybe I just= =20 need to go back to the beginning stages and learn C++ again. I have been looking some more into using swig for wxPHP. It's almost=20 tempting although as of yet there is no php5 support in swig. Only php4. After a bit of work this afternoon, I managed to compile wxPHP with=20 wxWidgets linked into it dynamically. I used the hello world example for=20 testing although my implementation did not work. (No big deal yet) So at least we're now somewhere. I will commit this to CVS when all the=20 necessary changes have been made to config.m4. Well PHP CVS now has unicode support. While it is unstable. This will be good for the wxPHP project as wxWidgets is usually compiled=20 with unicode enabled. I am finally starting to have some time to work with this project again.=20 There is a long standing bug in phpize that has kept me from writing any=20 real code. I've been working on wxPHP on and off. I've been having a few problems with= =20 the build system due to a bug in PHP-cvs. I've been working on fixing that. Hi Abhishek, Welcome to wxPHP. We currently have a development page on the web site that has a short road= =20 map and some guidelines. See: http://wxphp.sourceforge.net/index.php/Development Just a little more of the goals for the first 0.1 release, I want to get a= =20 release out a soon as possible, so we'll simply implement everything we nee= d=20 to in order to get a working release. From there on once we have a full implementation, our releases will concur= =20 with the wxWidgets releases cycles and following the same version scheme. It seems either we're all really busy right now or have temporarily lost=20 interest in wxPHP. But I can assure everyone on this list that as long as I'm here, there will= =20 be a 0.1 release. I've never started a project without, well starting it. My main problem is trying to split my time into 6 different things: 1) Personal life 2) wxPHP 4) ACal Project 5) OS X FlightGear port 6) MachCMS Project Kind of difficult at times when things get busy. But if you look at the=20 other 3 projects I am administrator of, you can see they all have at least = 3=20 releases. And I don't intend on breaking that here. So, that's my excuse for things being slow, and some little reassurance to= =20 go with it. :) Now back to wxPHP. Here's my plan for the code. Instead of directly mapping C++ classes to PHP which is rather complicated,= =20 create PHP functions and map them into a PHP class. That is what all the=20 extensions I've seen so far do. And it looks like it'll be the easiest way. If somebody else wants to try it differently, go ahead. SWIG is not very active right now, not a lot of development going on there.= =20 Maybe someday if someone adds good PHP5 support we can use it. I'm currently trying to get PHP extensions building again on my system. It= =20 seems to be broke right now. I've bumped the wxPHP project to #1 on my=20 priority list for projects in need of development, and intend to get=20 something done soon. I realize that not having any code to work with is probably the biggest roa= d=20 block for other developers wanting to help. If you have a good idea on how= =20 to map wxWidgets to PHP, please email it to this list. --=20 <Arthur/> -> Having an urge to get something done. |

I would like to know whether or not any of you guys have tried building wha= t=20 we currently have in the CVS repository, and if you have, what the results= =20 were. Anonymous CVS instructions are at http://wxphp.sourceforge.net For commit access use CVS over ssh. I think it would be a good idea to make sure it builds across all platforms= =20 before going on. I'm using Mac OS X, and I assume you are are Windows or Linux. My plan is to get a sample class into CVS this week. --=20 <Arthur/> |

Just one more thing I've thought about. We could map everything directly into PHP. This would be the easiest to=20 maintain in the future. But we could also create a custom class for some of the classes so that=20 instead of having to do this in PHP to create a new instance of the wxFrame= =20 object, <?php $frame =3D wxFrame(NULL, -1, "My Window", wxSize(30, 40), wxPoint(50, 50)); ?> You could do: <?php $frame =3D wxFrame(NULL, -1, "My Window", 30, 40, 50, 50); ?> Making things a little shorter. In wxPython the syntax is: wxFrame(NULL, -1, "My Window", (-1, -1), (-1, -1)) But I'm not sure we can do (int, int) as a single parameter in PHP. I have not had enough time yet to build a PHP class in C++ (without mapping= )=20 but hopefully I'll get around to it this week. Of interest this project was announced at phpdeveloper.org<http://phpdeveloper.org>a few days ago. I was wondering why the hits spiked up that day :) Overall I believe this will be rather simple. But we need to build a=20 template. Maybe we should start with wxApp. ** On 6/7/05, Arthur Wiebe <ar...@gm...> wrote: >=20 > Dir is part of the standard extension. php-src/ext/standard/dir.c and=20 > php_dir.h >=20 > Other extensions also worth looking at are >=20 > - hwapi - The only extension in the php-src written in C++. > - sqlite - Good object oriented ext.=20 > - simplexml - Also a good oo ext. >=20 > And <http://bugs.tutorbuddy.com/php5cpp/php5cpp/> > Is the only document/tutorial I could find that talks about C++ and=20 > mapping classes.=20 >=20 > On 6/7/05, Landon Bradshaw <la...@ph...> wrote: > >=20 > > What we might want to do is reverse-engineer the directory class and us= e > > that as a model for building the object wrappers that will work with th= e > > ZE2 ... > >=20 > > http://www.php.net/manual/en/class.dir.php=20 > >=20 > > This has the persistence we need with the wxWidget objects and it's > > simple enough I think that as a starting point we could all understand > > it ... > >=20 > > ...Landon > >=20 > >=20 > > -------------------------------------------------------=20 > > This SF.Net <http://SF.Net> email is sponsored by: NEC IT Guy Games.
