why do you don't use your subclass directly? After the hints from Mattia, it
works very well for me with a subclass of Wx::ListCtrl and XRC.
The hints from Mattia you can find at the archive (2003/09/28: XRC and
subclassing (was: Help with Wx::Grid and XRC)

Subject: [wxperl-users] Subclass an existing control
I want to sub-class a control that has already been created. Or to be more
clear I want to bless a Wx::ListCtrl to add extra functionality. Is this
possible? The ListCtrl is created as part of a dialog loaded from XRC.
If not, is there some way of cloning the object, or creating a reference to
the original object?
Otherwise is there a way to create a HASH REF (my object) of the original
SCALAR REF (wxwin object) ?
