Wx-0.26.

Or the build script simply can't find these libraries ? If the latter,
how do I specify their locations and where should they be located ?

  You should only need:

cd contrib/src/stc
make
make install

in you wxGTK build script. This was needed for Wx-0.26 as well.

The point is wxGtk remains the same as it was for Wx-0.26. So I do not understand
why now build script(s) for Wx-0.57 complain.

Maybe I'll install newer ExtUtils::MakeMaker - currently the version is

and/or try it on a different machine - that other one has Perl v 5.8.8 and my attempts
so far have been using Perl v 5.8.7.

Unfortunately, building Wx-Perl has become more difficult, and after addition of
Alien::<whatever> mechanism Makefile.PL is still needed, though the intent of
Alien::<whatever> mechanism is to get rid of the whole ExtUtils::MakeMaker and
Makefile.PL stuff altogether ...

  I get it all the times I forget to build STC. While the warning indicates
a possible, problem in Perl, I would not worry much about it.

  IMO it has not, it is just the procedure that has changed. For what
is worth, the scripts I use to make binary releases have become much
smaller after the introduction of Alien::wxWidgets.

  And the intento of Alien was never to replace Makefile.PL, as it is
explained in the Alien manifesto.
