The latest version in CVS of include/wx/dirdlg.h (1.46) lacks the member functions SetStyle and GetStyle, which breaks wxPerl. (They were passthrough functions which called wxWindow::[SG] etWindowStyle. No real loss.) Regards, John Ralls |

Hi Mattia, please can you explain me the reason for this patch? http://wxperl.cvs.sourceforge.net/wxperl/wxPerl/ext/docview/cpp/docview.h?r1=1.19&r2=1.20 It seems to break my one and only wxPerl application that makes use of the doc/view framework. My documents OnCreate method won't be called anymore, which has worked perfectly with wxPerl 0.25 So i dived into the depth of debugging xs and wxperl (this drove ne nuts, but i have learned a lot ;-) ). What i have discouvered is, that wxPliDocTemplate::CreateDocument doesn't call the docs OnCreate Method in case of having the document class by name. The same is true for wxPliDocTemplate::CreateView and the views OnCreate method. So i translated the missing parts from the wxWidget sources and patched it to work for me again. Then i had the idea of looking into the cvs tree (a little bit late, i kow :-) ) just to see that you have removed aproximatly the same code, that i have recreated. Now im a little bit puzzled. Knowing the problem i get my application to work by overloading the DocTemplates CreateDocument and CreateView functions, but this is a dirty hack. And so I hope you can put me back on the right trail. regards, Gerrit Wichert ps. this are my patched versions of the two wxPliDocTemplate functions: wxDocument *wxPliDocTemplate::CreateDocument( const wxString& path, long flags ) { dTHX; wxDocument* doc = 0; if( wxPliVirtualCallback_FindCallback( aTHX_ &m_callback, "CreateDocument" ) ) { SV* ret = wxPliVirtualCallback_CallCallback( aTHX_ &m_callback, G_SCALAR, "Pl", &path, flags ); doc = (wxDocument*) wxPli_sv_2_object( aTHX_ ret, "Wx::Document" ); SvREFCNT_dec( ret ); } else { if( m_hasDocClassInfo ) return wxDocTemplate::CreateDocument( path, flags ); SV* obj = CallConstructor( m_docClassName ); doc = (wxDocument*)wxPli_sv_2_object( aTHX_ obj, "Wx::Document" ); SvREFCNT_dec( obj ); if (InitDocument( doc, path, flags)) {//gw return doc; //gw } else { //gw return (wxDocument *) NULL; //gw } //gw } return doc; } wxView *wxPliDocTemplate::CreateView( wxDocument* doc, long flags ) { dTHX; wxView* view = 0; if( wxPliVirtualCallback_FindCallback( aTHX_ &m_callback, "CreateView" ) ) { SV* ret = wxPliVirtualCallback_CallCallback( aTHX_ &m_callback, G_SCALAR, "Ol", doc, flags ); view = (wxView*) wxPli_sv_2_object( aTHX_ ret, "Wx::View" ); SvREFCNT_dec( ret ); } else { if( m_hasViewClassInfo ) return wxDocTemplate::CreateView( doc, flags ); SV* obj = CallConstructor( m_viewClassName ); view = (wxView*)wxPli_sv_2_object( aTHX_ obj, "Wx::View" ); SvREFCNT_dec( obj ); view->SetDocument(doc); //gw if (view->OnCreate( doc, flags)) { //gw return view; //gw } else { //gw delete view; //gw does this work this way? return (wxView *) NULL; //gw } //gw } return view; } |

Hi, sorry, don't know if I'm asking this in the right place, but I can't find any other place... I'm running Cygwin on WinXP, and using the latest GTK+ version of wxWidgets. This is the first time I've ever installed wxWidgets, but it seems to work (after copying some DLLs to a directory in the PATH), based on the fact that the wxWidgets fractal demo compiles, runs, and displays its not-too-impressive fractal just fine. Installing wxPerl has proven more problematic, though. When I do "make test", after following all the instructions and installing everything with no apparent errors, every single test fails. How can I find out why this is happening and how to fix it? Whenever I try running any script that contains the words "use Wx;", perl just immediately exits, before running any code, with no errors or warnings. Just for your amusement, here is the output of make test (with useless babbling from make omitted). /usr/bin/perl.exe "-MExtUtils::Command::MM" "-e" "test_harness(0, 'blib/lib', 'blib/arch')" t/*.t t/01_load.............FAILED before any test output arrived t/02_inheritance......FAILED before any test output arrived t/03_event............FAILED before any test output arrived t/04_userdata.........FAILED before any test output arrived t/05_timer............FAILED before any test output arrived t/06_loadxpm..........FAILED before any test output arrived t/07_overload.........FAILED before any test output arrived t/08_ovl_func.........FAILED before any test output arrived t/09_create_delete....FAILED before any test output arrived t/10_oor..............FAILED before any test output arrived t/11_twostage.........FAILED before any test output arrived t/12_pod..............skipped all skipped: Test::Pod 1.00 required for testing POD t/13_nbksizer.........FAILED before any test output arrived t/14_eh_die...........FAILED before any test output arrived t/zz_distrib..........skipped all skipped: YAML 0.35 required for testing META.yml Failed Test Stat Wstat Total Fail Failed List of Failed ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- t/01_load.t ?? ?? % ?? t/02_inheritance.t ?? ?? % ?? t/03_event.t ?? ?? % ?? t/04_userdata.t ?? ?? % ?? t/05_timer.t ?? ?? % ?? t/06_loadxpm.t ?? ?? % ?? t/07_overload.t ?? ?? % ?? t/08_ovl_func.t ?? ?? % ?? t/09_create_delete.t ?? ?? % ?? t/10_oor.t ?? ?? % ?? t/11_twostage.t ?? ?? % ?? t/13_nbksizer.t ?? ?? % ?? t/14_eh_die.t ?? ?? % ?? 2 tests skipped. Hi, Pasted below is an example .perlapp config file that works for me with PerlApp 6.0.2 You must bind each of the Wx dlls as shown (replacing the custom naming with your own) Then use BEGIN { use Wx::Package::Win32; } as normal. I'd be interested to know if this works / does not work. #--------------------------------------------------------------- #!C:\Program Files\ActiveState Perl Dev Kit 6.0\bin\lib\pai.exe PAP-Version: 1.0 Packer: C:\Program Files\ActiveState Perl Dev Kit 6.0\bin\perlapp.exe Script: example.pl Cwd: C:\example\bin Bind: wxbase26u_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxbase26u_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxbase26u_net_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxbase26u_net_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxbase26u_xml_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxbase26u_xml_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_core_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_core_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_stc_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_stc_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_gl_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_gl_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_html_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_html_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_media_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_media_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_xrc_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_xrc_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Bind: wxmsw26u_adv_vc_gigi.dll[file=C:\Perl\site\lib\Alien\wxWidgets\msw_2_6_3_uni_mslu_cl_0\lib\wxmsw26u_adv_vc_gigi.dll,extract,mode=444] Clean: 0 Date: 2006-04-16 19:08:00 Debug: Dependent: 0 Dyndll: 0 Exe: example.exe Force: 1 Gui: 1 Hostname: mypc Icon: C:\example\example.ico Lib: lib:. Hi All, Wx::Package::Win32 does not yet work with wxPerl 0.49xx. I have had no time to make and test the changes necessary. I think that if for now you manually bind each of the wxPerl DLLs in perlapp you will get a working package. The problem is that perlapp has built in heuristics to include the wxperl DLLs for versions of wxPerl 0.27 and below. This does not work with wxPerl 0.49. I hope to be able to fix Wx::Package::Win32 before end of May. Regards Mark Ed W wrote: > Mark Wardell wrote: > >> Hi All/Mark, >> >> I am still having problems using PerlApp since using wxPerl 0.4902 >> (now 0.4904), when I exit I get an application error. >> If I build without the --gui option, I see an error when I exit: >> >> "rmtree failed: Directory not empty" > > > It's just one more datapoint, but I got this error when using the > SingleInstanceChecker.
