  I completely agree (that's why I proposed something like
Wx::Perl::Tk for this).

  I believe you are a bit over-optimistic: I expect there
will be a loto of people wanting to _use_ this compatibility
layer, but not many (IOW, none...)  that want to actually
code it.  I don't know if I am being cynical or have just been
an OSS developer for too much time...
