I have found that certain mouse configurations (default
in my case) make the middle mouse button unaccessable
to close the split screen scrolling.
My default setup has Auto-Scroll attached to my middle
mouse button. Inside wxMUD, clicking it won't close the
split window scrolling feature, but instead begins
scrolling in the direction of the cursor (which works in
the wrong direction too, and scrolls to the top or bottom
of the buffer.)
I've found that if I enable Use MS Office Compatibility
Scroll only, the middle mouse button works as intended.
While not inhibiting by someone who knows about it, an
unexperienced user in such areas wouldn't know how to
fix that. And even then, I'd assume not all mouse
configurations have that issue either (I'm using the
newest Logitech MouseWare software.)
Thus, it might be wise to fix that somehow in later
versions, altho it's not something I'd worry about too
much in the present.

Split screen mode can be terminated by double left clicking on
the sash. As far as the reverse direction scrolling goes, I'd
have to see exactly what events it is triggering. Feel to
contact me directly to work on this one.

I went so far as to test this at work using computers that
have such mice and drivers. I was unable to reproduce the
bug. Funky. Whenever I have some free time at work I'll
check it out further - but who knows when that'll be...
You don't have MSVC++, do you? If so, trap the events for
me and tell me exactly what's going on :)
