Well, you may have better luck another time, or also on haskell-cafe.
#haskell tends to be very friendly from my experience.

What would help is your ghc-pkg dump output and also the version of
the GHC and the Haskell Platform you are using (assuming you are using
the Haskell Platform, which is not 100% essential).

I *think* you want the version of containers that uses
array-0.3.0.1 as this is what seems to ship with the version of
haskell-platform I had installed (the one that goes with
GHC 6.12.3)
