When downloading from someone in my LAN (100Mbit/s), I can only go as high as 2MB/s. I tested with LinuxDC++ and I can download at 8-10MB/s from the same person.
PS: I use valknut 0.3.9, but it seems to be the same with 0.3.8 too.

Single or multi download mode? Single should be faster.
Otherwise, there is probably some buffer size somewhere in dclib that may benefit from being adjustable.
