indeed, the doc is old; SF keeps changing/revolutionizing all their services
every 3-4 months...

yes, this would be their suggested way for uploading stuff to web; you can do
that also using their shell service however and that easier to use IMO...

hmmm, can you try the shell service system?
Permissions should be ok as far as you're part of the "wxcode" unix group...
