I don't know if this is the place to ask this and this may sound stupid,
but I need to parse docfiles on a pocket pc type of device for a
project. I am aware of pocket word, but for a class project (Software
Engineering class) we need to create a word document viewer using
Microsoft's Embedded Visual C++. We mainly just need to give a fair
representation of the content of the document less headers, footers,
images, etc. We do need to display tables though.
Background: Four people on this project. It has to be delivered in less
than 2 months. No one has experience programming on any windows
platform. I do java programming at work and have some programming
experience with c++. I don't think anyone else has much of any practical
So, here's my questions:
First of all I was wondering how feasible this is? I can't find any API
to use beyond opening compound documents.
The only capable parser I could find was wv. Does anybody have an
opinion on how difficult it would be to port the parser to Windows CE
Does someone know of something native that would work? I've asked around
elsewhere - nothing.
I checked out the cvs. What's the difference between the wv module and
the wv2 module? Is wv2 what's used in KOffice? How much of it is
dependant on the other modules.
I'd appreciate any comments or goodwill :)
BTW: Would it be better to post this to devel list? I don't know who
