Couple of questions:
Did you get xml to work or have you dropped it entirely?
Also, why do you define the following in the makefile?
export WMF_LDFLAGS= -lgd
The GD library included within libwmf has been patched to support clip
rectangles, which is why there is no option to link with a system libgd.
However, other programs which would normally compile against libgd should
be able to compile against libwmf.
Am I missing something?
