#1 Backup to mounted drive

Would it be possible to have a hard drive basd backup mount
the drive only to perform a backup or restore. By
leaving the drive
unmounted it is 'relatively' safe from any host related
problems. This
would introduce the problem of the forced fs check, but
it should be
avoidable with a weekly cron based fsck.
