I use "Hamlib NET Rigctl” as rig on my station. (I use a Kenwood TS-870s.)    And then run rigctld-wsjtx in the  background to do the rig control from my Mac.  This way I can also control the rig’s RF Power Level from another computer.   I think this is what you want to do with the routine you want to write.
