[wsjt-devel] Rig control problem with WSJT-X 1.4.0-rc2 on Linux

I am having an issue with WSJT-X v1.4.0-rc2 on Linux with a MicroHam-III
USB sound card interface and an Icom 746PRO CAT-connected radio.  I am
using the build offered here,

The issue is that whenever the software commands the radio via CAT,
DTR is asserted on the serial device (/dev/ttyUSB0) and this causes
the radio to go into transmit.   DTR is never desserted after the CAT
command has completed and so the radio stays transmitting until I power
it off, kill the app or it burns up :-)  This occurs as soon as the app
is launched, presumably because it is querying the radio for current
operating frequency, mode, etc.

I also use the stock build of FLDigi software (which uses hamlib too)
on this same hardware configuration and it does not exhibit this problem.

The MicroHam-III interface might be somewhat unique in that it uses
DTR on the CAT port to pull the PTT line for the radio but this is their
"off-the-shelf" configuration with their stock radio cable and recommended
jumper settings in the interface so I am inclined to fix the software
and not call it a hardware issue.

I believe FLDigi does not have this problem because when they open the
CAT port, they must immediately issue a termio function to deassert DTR
(and RTS) and then only assert those if they are the selected PTT method.
If PTT is done by CAT command, DTR should never be asserted.

I can force DTR to drop by issuing,

	stty -F /dev/ttyUSB0 hupcl

from another window so I do this to keep the radio from actually
burning up ;-)

I am running on Fedora Core 20 and I have asked Josh (who recently
posted a success with FC20 and r3609) for his build recipe and if I can
successfully build this newer version, I can probably offer a fix/patch
for the problem.
