Java Swing/Awt tray application as windows

  • Anonymous - 2010-05-06

    I am using jdk 1.6
My application is a swing application which works in system try on start .
I hv created windows service for the application using java wrappers(tanuki, YAJSW, SC).
The problem is when the service starts, the program runs but it is not shown in the tray, and if we check the processes are running and log is also being generated.
This happens in only windows7/vista. It works fine in XP.
Is there any issue with windows access control.?
I hv tried enabling the option of "allow to interact with desktop" in windows service but still not working.

    pls help

I am sorry to say that this is a "feature" of Windows 7, Vista, and 2008..   Microsoft decided to change the security model for Services so that they can no longer interact with a user's desktop.

This is a known issue that a lot of people are asking us about.  We are currently working on a work around for this problem and hope to have it out in the next couple months.

This is going to be a problem with all of the tools you mentioned as it is a new restriction of the OS.
