When I open a page, my focus is typically what's in the page. For some of the heavy projects, the giant background box is becoming a serious annoyance. The window should be collapsed by default, with a notification (you have background jobs, click here to see them)

Thank you for the report. As a reminder, if you offer a solution along with the report of a problem, please offer it as a suggestion, since there may be other solutions.
I agree that this is a problem, but I've been considering options other than collapsing the box. For one, I'd like to move the listing from that box to a menu that pops up when you hover over a link in the sidebar.
Or I could always show up to 3 jobs, with a "see more"
My apologies. I thought it was clear that my suggested solution was a suggestion. I will be more explicit about this in future.
OK, thanks - I'll try to read such suggestions less literally.
Three jobs seems a lot for the top of every page. Another possible suggestion would be to show just one.
