Now that the MediaWiki code base has been migrated from svn to git, we might do the same, since the only reason we're on subversion now is to make it easy for people to use the same tools for WW and MW.
Not sure about the quality of github's issue tracker, or whether it would be possible to migrate all these tracker items over to there. Would need to look into it. Could surely move the code to github and leave the issue tracking here - there's one page here that offers and integrated timeline of code commits and issue-tracker comments, but I very much doubt anyone uses it.
