Well, if WW didn't suppress the line altogether then at least we would know it's there, and could select it with the mouse to find out whether it has a tab in it or not. So that would be an alternative...

I think this is really a problem with make, not WW.
The line following a dependency-only rule could be blank, or could contain only a tab.
This is a known issue that I believe people have tried to fix on occasion, only to be beaten back by traditionalists.
The only alternative, I guess, would be to have WW show some sort of end-of-line marker when rendering makefiles.
