For instance, there's a big difference between this makefile:

Target : Prerequisite
\t

and the same one without the second line. But they look the same in the wiki page.

    I think this is really a problem with make, not WW.

    The line following a dependency-only rule could be blank, or could contain only a tab.

    This is a known issue that I believe people have tried to fix on occasion, only to be beaten back by traditionalists.

    The only alternative, I guess, would be to have WW show some sort of end-of-line marker when rendering makefiles.

    Well, if WW didn't suppress the line altogether then at least we would know it's there, and could select it with the mouse to find out whether it has a tab in it or not. So that would be an alternative...
