I've posted an update about the progress that I'd made through 
yesterday on my blog (http://www.carrel.org./)

On the bus this morning I managed to get post and page editing and 
creation working.  It was an issue with how they are handling the 
auto-incrementing sequences on the wp_posts table.  There is some 
indication from that code that they have introduced a race condition 
for post ids on MySQL.  Luckily PostgreSQL's sequences are more robust 
against these sorts of issues unless you are very reckless.  I'll be 
blogging in more detail about that particular issue sometime between 
now and the weekend.

There is still a ways to go, but as I've said previously, it's all 
about making forward progress...  My changes as of this moment are 
checked into CVS.  It's very much not ready for primetime, so please 
don't file bug reports against HEAD unless you're including a patch and 
explanation.
