WoD changes direction

A new version of WoD was released recently which has alot of bug fixes and also marks a change of direction of WoD.

WoD has now become a 3D game platform(built on top of SDL) which will support dynamic scripting for the game engine, AI, widgets, game settings, music, configurations, and so on. The goal of WoD will be to be able to download/build game backs that allow SDL to load the script files so at one time it can be a game of look-alike starcraft, and with the switch of a script, it could be a game of chess! ... read more

Lots of things coming for the end of the month...

Hello to all WoDers out there!

Well I am finally getting back to work once again in little spurts on the project. By the end of the month I plan on making a major release which will include the following:

-Upgrade everything to use the new SDL 1.2.3 stuff, including the "windows-extras" which has all the libraries, headers, and DLL's you need to build and run WoD so you don't have to waste your time doing that on your own.
-True Type Font support is going to be added. I tried all the ways I could of think of without having to do this because I really do not want another library to worry about, but this is going to be the easiest way to add fonts so we are going to go with it at least for now.
-The File Dialog widget will be hopefully up and going, I have been slow on this because I coouldn't figure out what to do for fonts, but since as I stated before we will be using TTF then the work can go on!
-I am also going to add building preferences for making a Win32 static file just like there is for Linux so people can save time and the agony of DLL's if they don't like them.
-I am also going to be added streaming socket classes to replace the shodddy network sockets I have in place now which are a real pain. This isn't anything really for the end-user but it will making programming life alot easier for anyone who is wanting to us WoD from a programmers view.... read more

WoD 0.30.2 is released

Well it's been a while so I thought, "Hey, it's time for a release!", so that is exactly what I'm doing. Release 0.30.2 features some more code clean up with the understructure of WoD starting to take shape. Also, work has begun on a new file dialog widget! If you want to see what this widget, and the slider bar widgets look like then go right on over to the "SHOTS" section to check out the new screenshots I put up! ... read more

WoD 0.30.1 is out

The last release we had accidentaly had some extra files(object files and temprorary files) that didn't belong. So I thought it would be good to get another release out. Also, in this release I finished up the widget system but there is only one widget type for now, but it is still pretty nice to use! You can see it by checking out the settings.cfg file in the config directory of WoD. Anyways, as always, keep coming back for more on the way! ... read more

WoD 0.30 is out!

A new version of WoD is finally out. I know it's been a long time but hey, We've been busy working on the code! The new version includes alot of underlying code changes including JR's new object system. For the future J.R. is working on a new interpreter. This will be used to read in code for the game at startup to improve the dynamics of the game and making it easier to hack away at the inner-workings of the game without re-compiling! The new code is going to be named WOD++ :) Jordan is working on a dynamic widget system so can just as easily add configuration GUI objects to control the objects created with WOD++. Make sure to come back soon for the big changes coming! ... read more

Version 0.16 is out!

It was discovered that version 0.15 had the debug version of the windows executable. Oops! So here we are with a new version to fix that little problem! Also, there is a brand new logging system to make it alot easier to log errors and warnings in WoD.

An example log would look like:
Wlog<<wlog::level(DEBUG)<<"foo"<<wlog::endl;

We also have some nice preliminary sound work from James up with this release so go ahead and check out the cool new sounds! ... read more
