+What Are These Things Good For?
+-------------------------------
+
+**WNotes** can work like a window onto any piece of text on your desktop or disk. They're designed to integrate text from desktop apps and files into... whatever you find useful: a database, a diary, a log file... whatever the *something* is that you keep information with, **WNotes** puts them on the desktop. With a little scripting with *bash,* *perl,* or other language, it's easy write desktop applets that save notes, put them away, and then pop then up whenever you need them.
+
+For a few examples to get you started, take a look in the **examples subdirectory** of the distribution.

+WNotes Updates
+--------------

-This is the default page, edit it as you see fit. To add a new page simply reference it within brackets, e.g.: [SamplePage].
+We normally post notices of updates to Free Software sites like freecode.com, and also to sites like lxer.com and Usenet groups like comp.os.linux.announce if a release seems particularly newsworthy.

-The wiki uses [Markdown](/p/wnotes/wiki/markdown_syntax/) syntax.
+If you want to receive notices of future releases, you can subscribe to the WNotes project on freecode.com, and you'll receive notices by e-mail whenever we release a new version of WNotes.
+
+**Features and bugs.** We're always interested in hearing from you. Please contact us if you have suggestions for new features or have noticed a bug that you would like fixed.
