I am going to give a try to this theme but I need to change background picture to some kind of witch thing https://github.com/zolech/railgun-sddm-theme
Yeah, lightdm and gdm can be painful. The problem with the nice themes for sddm is that they often need kde plasma components. Mainly the package plasma-workspace.
Sddm installed and working fine , didn't pull in many kde packages , need to find some good theme for sddm now Removed lightdm package , infact never liked lightdm because it has always issues with X On Tue, Aug 20, 2019, 5:45 PM Melanie Genz melaniefox@users.sourceforge.net wrote: The logs don't give a hint or error why lightdm isn't working. The logs don't give a hint or error why lightdm isn't working. You could try the following: 1) use sddm as display manager (pulls in kf5 packages) and tell me if that works 2) a clean install with the latest xfce iso.

I will have a closer look when i'am back on the devstation. On the first fast lookthrough on my phone i recognized that you uninstalled libaccounts-glib. LightDM needs that to talk to accountsservice and find users which can login. Without that package lighdm can hang on normalboot. With verbose boot it just takes over the con session.
I am attaching the boot log file gnome-keyring and accountsservice packages are installed
You always use client / server software. E.g. dbus, samba. Brotli is needed by kf5 to process some data. I think vlc needs kf5 packages. You could try to run pacman -Rs kf5. If it bails out then the kde packages are still needed.
LightDM needs some gnome packages too. Mainly gnome-keyring and accountsservice. It would be helpfull to have an systemd journal ouput from a blank screen boot. Use journalctl --boot=-1 > log.txt This gives you the output of the syslog before the current session.
