With regards to the pages.xml I have found a couple of issues and made the below modifications.

<page view-id="/login.jspx">
        <navigation>
            <rule if="#{identity.loggedIn}">
                <redirect view-id="/todoList.jspx" />
            </rule>
        </navigation>
    </page>

It now works fine. I'm not sure as to why the authenticator.authenticate() is not getting fired.

I will look into the tree problem that you have.

Oh sorry Gautham for all the trouble - if you check out now - everything should be fine - yeah seam gen is a good comparative analysis candidate - for now our problem appears to be limited to pages.xml and totally beats me why it wont work. 


An another note of thannks, the seam-example you created is serving to be an excellent starter for new folks coming on board.

Also  if you can critique the approach I took - One Seam action as opposed to two (for both search and persistence) - it will be great.

I just had a quick look at the pages.xml. The dtd declaratio is a bit different , on reverting it to the below it is working fine.

You deserve all the apprecaition Gautham and I value your efforts very much - if you update your code - you will see that patient now works (patient/editPatient.jspx and patient/listPatient.jspx) 



One issue is when I declare navigation in pages.xml - for some odd reason it doesn't work 

Second is when you search and select an item from the list for editing - it selects the first item in list - you will see this behavior, very weird. 

But overall we are crusing along and when you get a chance feel free to check out my.generator.project - it now generates a pretty good starter seam app.
