This original project was abandoned and all links should now point to the new project page instead. The project has been continued with public working and release versions with upgraded code and improvements found here https://sourceforge.net/projects/wiresharelpe/
A merge of project pages is perhaps a practical idea.

As the original maintainer of the WireShare project, you have not only my
sincere thanks but also my irrevocable blessing.
My original idea in starting a SourceForge project was to keep the original
limewire software (barely) afloat until a maintainer could be found,
especially when Frost Wire announced their intention to become a torrent
client only. Limewire in its original incarnation made such an indelible
mark on computer history that it broke into popular culture. It would have
been a shame to have seen it fall into oblivion.
Unfortunately, while there are many things I can do well, hacking java code
is not among them. I will happily write documentation or design a project
web page, though. I pass the torch to you with the confidence that you
will make this a solid file sharing contender. Treat it well; it was my
baby.

New Project page for WireShare - public release versions with upgraded
code

Your assistance with resetting up a wiki would be ideal if you would be willing.
We'd be very happy for you to not only stay in touch but to assist if you have the interest and time, when it suits you in your own time. Please become a part of the team.
I noticed some sites mark this project page as the URL for WireShare. If you or any of the team could fix those links to the newer project page it would be greatly appreciated. (Edit: Edited out unnecessary details about external URL's. - No longer necessary anyway.)

Thank you for your thoughts and your original work and keeping the concept alive.
We would definitely appreciate some assistance with the web portion if you are willing and could spare some time when it suits you.
(*Moderator you can remove the last sentence/paragraph regarding external sites from my post awaiting moderation. The url's were not necessary & can be discussed privately. Or simply delete the entire post.)

Yes, I'd be proud to be a part of the new WireShare team, and will assist
in any manner possible and necessary, including wiki work. I'm not sure
what wiki software SourceForge uses, but I could certainly learn. If it's
media wiki, this wouldn't even be necessary, as I was raised on mw.
Before I begin work, however, i have a proposal to make. Why not migrate
everything to the old project page? Certainly now that I finally found
developers willing to work on this, it seems a shame to let the original
project page founder. I could add one of you as admin and you could then
set it up according to your specifications (including adding other admins
if needed).
I should have kept my past paragraph in private message I think. Posting
of url's has sent it into moderation queue.
Thank you for your thoughts and your original work and keeping the concept
alive.
To reiterate what I posted that's still awaiting, we would definitely
appreciate some assistance with the web portion if you are willing and
could spare some time when it suits you.
This was exactly the idea I came back to ask about. It would be far more practical for us to migrate here and join together. Please add bigjx1 as administrator. bigjx1 can then add me.

I took the initiative in adding you both. Let's make this the meanest,
best gnutella client around.
I don't like even the slightest suggestion of being bossy or anything, but
I'd like to draw your attention to the CVS repository, which is by now
badly out of date. If you would kindly consider merging the latest update
of the source with whatever is on CVS, or else transitioning to whatever
source management system you were using on your fork, that would be great.

Thank you for allowing us to migrate to your project. If you have any suggestions on the development of application then please feel free to share them. We will certainly need your help with developing the project homepage and documenting features and settings as well as help setting up the wiki. We were using git on our fork and I will push the current source when I get home from work.
