I have just posted WirelessDriver 1.0.0b5.1 to both my iDisk (robm) and to the usual spot on SourceForge.net. This build has been tested much more extensively than the failed attempt I made a couple days ago and has shown itself to be quite stable. You can do a direct download from: <http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wirelessdriver/ WirelessDriverBeta5_1.dmg.sit?download> <http://ftp.sourceforge.net/wirelessdriver/ WirelessDriverBeta5_1.dmg.sit> This build has been compiled specifically for OS X 10.2 (Jaguar) and will not work on earlier versions of OS X. There will be a separate version coming shortly to fill this void. **PLEASE NOTE** There is an issue in this release with installing the driver over top of an existing version. It will fail the first time you try to do this (actually, it will fail every other time). If it fails, please try to run the installer at least once more before asking for assistance. The usual links: Project Support Home Page: <http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.net> Project Support Mailing List: <http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wirelessdriver- support> Project Announcemnets Mailing List: <http://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wirelessdriver- announce> Please try to post all support requests to the support list before contacting me or Yuriwho directly. This both helps to keep things organized and will likely get you a faster response. Thank you, -Rob McKeever ro...@ma... |

Hi all, I've (finally) posted a build of the driver built for OS X 10.2 to my iDisk. The can be reached via the following URL: <http://homepage.mac.com/robm> This installer is a preliminary release. I will post it to SourceForge in the usual place and make an announcement to VersionTracker once I've had a few feedback reports. This build is, essentially, a top-of-tree build from the CVS archives. I have made several changes to it to support compilation under Jaguar and have added a few lines of code towards trying to solve the AppleTalk issue, although I haven't had any opportunity to test that yet. Let me know how you make out with it and I'll get whatever changes done that need to be made and make a final announcement. -Rob McKeever ro...@ma... |

AppleTalk support has always been munged. I've been working on this. -Rob On Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at 03:23 PM, Frank Hopper wrote: > Is it just me or did the Appletalk support get munged? WirelessDriver 1.0.0 beta 4 has been posted. I realize that April 1st probably isn't the best day for a release (for obvious reasons), but it's up. Changes: Driver: Minimal. Added support for many more cards. Preference Panel: Many improvements and bug fixes. No longer crashes if card isn't present, among others. Command line tools and diagnostics are also available in this release. The release can be obtained from the WirelessDriver project on SourceForge or directly from the following link: <http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wirelessdriver/WirelessDriverBeta4.sit> Enjoy! If you double-click the WirelessDriver PrefPane directly, it will open. It appears to be an issue with the preference pane getting installed as owned by root instead of being owned by the installing user. I'll fix my installer tomorrow. -Rob On Saturday, March 30, 2002, at 07:21 PM, Matthew Liao-Troth wrote: > Oddly enough, I don't have the WirelessConfig Preference Pane after the > install. > > It is in the Library/PreferencePanes folder, but not in the System > Preferences Window. > > I "uninstalled" b3, and then "installed" b4. > > > > _______________________________________________ > Wirelessdriver-support mailing list > Wir...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wirelessdriver-support |

I've stuck a disk image up on my iDisk that has essentially the same thing in it as a disk image. The installers are packaged a little differently, but the installed code should be the same. The message that Matthew Liao-Troth sent earlier saying that the preference pane isn't showing up even though it's present got me curious... I'm now having the same issue with this installer on mine. Is there anyone out there who might be a little less tired than I that is able to spot what I've got buggered up in the prefPane install? I have posted a pre-release of WirelessDriver_b4.sit for testing on my iTools homepage. This version is for testing by list members before official public release. It is equivalent to the latest version in CVS of the existing driver code (it is not Robs new re-write of the codebase..you will have to wait a little longer for that). The new version includes support for additional cards (let us know if your card is not supported, or supported but not listed in the FAQ), ability to enter ascii WEP keys and have them converted directly to hex (this does NOT work with Apples basestations..see the FAQ), the selection of channels for WEP keys (useful for some 3rd party basestations) and several bug fixes...no more crashing system preferences if the card was not recognized by the driver. The FAQ that comes with the new release is more up-to-date than the version on the website. They will come into sync when we release. The driver can be found at: http://homepage.mac.com/yuriwho called: WirelessDriver_b4.sit Please test this new version and report problems to the me or the forum. We hope to make a public release soon. Please, let me know there are any unusual problems with this installer. Cheers, Y -- yu...@ma... WirelessDriver Project Manager Please read the FAQ at http://wirelessdriver.sourceforge.org/faq.html It has probably been updated since the last time you looked at it. |
