I've been having the same IP address issue=2E I'm running OS 10=2E4=2E2=2E=
 (Classic
OS is not installed=2E) My network is open=2E=20
My Roamabout card will occassionally pick up the correct base station IP
address via DHCP, and all is well while=20
that's the case=2E But shortly thereafter, it will self-assign a 169 IP
address, and shortly after that the card's green light=20
goes off and there is no signal! Sometimes a restart will temporarily fix
the problem, but it always eventually goes=20
back to the 169 address=2E And to complicate matters even further, sometim=
es
it will then just "find" the correct base=20
station address all by itself=2E Manually inputting the base station's
correct IP information, instead of using DHCP, does=20
not fix the problem=2E I'm at a loss as to what to do about it, other than=

paying an arm & a leg for an 802=2E11b Apple=20
Airport card=2E

If anyone else has experienced this and has a fix, please let me know=2E=20=

"closed" airport base station (graphite) network ok but self assigns a=20
new ip address that won't let me connect to the internet=2E the self=20
assigned ip address is 169=2E254=2E249=2Exxx=2E if i go to tcp/ip "manual"=

type in a 10=2E0=2E1=2Ex ip address and my airport base station router add=
ress=20
it still doesn't work=2E if i reboot into 9 and reconfigure my airport=20
base station network to "open" using the airport admin utility and then=20=

reboot into 10 the dhcp server assigns the correct ip address (10=2E0=2E1=2E=
x)=20
and i can connect to the net=2E i tried reinstalling the sourceforge=20
driver without luck=2E i don't understand os10 well enough to know where=20=

to make adjustments=2E i don't understand how i can be connected to my=20
specific airport base station network with a strong signal and not get=20
the proper ip address assigned=2E

another symptom i noticed is that when the problem first showed up it=20
started taking (and continues to take) much longer than usual for my=20
startup sequence in os10 to get through the "waiting for network=20
initialization" step=2E

i don't recall having installed any new software or having made any=20
other changes to my system just prior to the problem showing up=2E

i have two other computers on my airport base station network, one=20
running 9=2E2=2E2 and one 10=2E2 and they both work fine=2E
