Just asking because I >don't have an external PCMCIA slot like powerbooks do. The apple airport card slot is not a PCMCIA card slot, though it looks like one. This in contrast with the slot in the Airport Base station, which was known to be canibalized for its internal PCMCIA card in the early days of wifi. The orinoco does have an antenna slot that you can open by prying off a tiny plug. If you want to use other than built-in airport cards (they are stil available in limited quantities here and there) your option is to use a USB device. They come in formfactor of a USB stick or a box with a USB extension cord. You probably want to go for a PRISM2 device. There is a hack describing the MA101 USB stick to be used as a wireless device on the wifi pages at www.binaervarianz.de at the Kismac pages. Ard |
