Very odd and a bit disturbing... I am using the open source wireless driver on a PB Wallstreet G3/300. It works great and has for a long, long time. I recently reconfigured my house so that I am using an old slot loading imac (G3/400) with an internal airport card to reshare my wired network connection via Mac OSX 10.3.7. This also works great, and allows me to have a very compact and hidden server and base (crawl space under the 700sq/ft house). I am using 40bit WEP to secure my network. Everything basically works, but I have recently made an alarming discovery.... If I use the Wallstreet (10.2.8 ) to copy large files, the Base station imac crashes hard (no panic log). Obviously this isn't the way *nix is supposed to behave. I can do the same file copy from my TIbook G4/867 with a airport card and it doesn't cause the same crash. I am going to try turning WEP off , since I have a feeling it's related to that somehow? Any thoughts? Anybody see something similar? Seems to me this is an issue with OSX rather then the OSW driver, but the driver is triggering it. Marty |
