I've found two other wifi detectors. iStumbler is a good alternative to 
your
two. I doubt all their low signal strength figures though. Nowadays I 
use "AP Grapher"
at home to test signal/noise et al.

Another idea: try ClassicStumbler (in OS9, obviously) to compare 
figures. I use v1.5.2
as 1.6 causes problems here.
