I need help. I'm a Mac and wireless newbie. I've got an older = PowerBook G4 400MHz with 128MB RAM running the latest OS 10.x (always = keep it upto date). I bought the D-Link DL-624 router and D-Link = DWL-G650 Air Plus Xtreme G 2.4GHz air card from www.buy.com and as luck = would have it the DWL-G650 air card isn't working in my powerbook. I = can't figure it out. The Powerbook sees the card. When I installed the = sourceforge.net drivers (also tried the IOExpert drivers) both drivers = claim there is no signal. My first question is how do I know if my = PowerBook G4 airport card slot is 32-bit? My second question is can = anyone try to advise me on how I can at least get my Aircard to see a = signal from the router? The card is 6 inches from the router antena. = Note the air card has one light that blinks on and off about every 10 = seconds. I would have assumed if there was a signal it would be solid = intead of blink. I've tried talking to D-Link but they refuse to help = me. I've also tried switching channels on the router. I know channel 6 = is the 108mbps channel. So I've tried 10, 11, and 12, and none seem to = help my air card detect a signal. Bummer. Please help me. Sincerely, Douglas |
