I purchased a Buffalo AirStation WLI-CB-G54A (the -A is for an external antenna connector, there's a lower-cost model without it), capable of 802.11b and g, but I think not a. Plugged it into my PowerBook G3 Wallstreet (10.2.6 at the time, now 10.2.8), and it worked fine. Apple's AirPort software recognized it and used it without a hitch. Not all 802.11g cards work, it depends on the chipset, and I believe Orinoco's is not compatible with Apple or with the Wireless Driver. I'm still keeping Wireless Driver around, though, since it doesn't conflict with Apple software and I might need to use the (old) Orinoco Gold as a backup. |
