I have gone through the same series of problems that you did: returned a
650+ after I found out that (unlike the 650) it wasn't supported, then
got a Proxim Orinoco Silver.  The bad news is that this new card
probably isn't supported, either.  If you check it, I'll bet you'll find
that it is model number 8421-WD, which has a Hermes chipset rather than
the Prism.  I've just returned mine and ordered an Orinoco Classic Gold
card, which I hope will do the trick at long last.  It's been a bit of
an ordeal, but I didn't put the effort I should have into carefully
reading the support archives before I bought.
