Removing the /private/var/db/NetworkInterfaces.xml and rebooting somewhat worked. My airport card became en2 and wirelessdriver card is now en1. Cliff Skolnick says that he edited the file. When I did that didn't work but removing (actually renamed) gave me the above results. Sure beats reinstalling :-).
