Hello all! I've been using an TI PowerBook 400 with an EnGenius PCMCIA card connected to an Apple Airport Base Station (ABS) for over a year now, and it's been working very well - the range is exceptional - over 130 ft. The ABS is connected to a cable modem. I recently also installed a DSL line, and what I'm trying to do is to set up the TI PowerBook as a Software Base Station - rather than switch the ABS to the DSL line when the need arises. All the networked Macs have an Apple Airport Card. When the TI PowerBook is set up as a Software Base Station, it just doesn't work. The networked Macs do not recognize the TI PowerBook with its "non airport card". However, when I set up one of the Macs with an Airport Card as the Software Base Station, everything works! I just don't know what the problem is and would really appreciate some feedback. I should add that I'm not sure if this the corrct forum to post this message - if it isn't - please direct me to the proper one. Thanks in advance. |
